TMO Balingoan- Members of the PCMD Technical Team led by Engr. Manuel Sabate, Project Manager, conducted a project inspection of the newly completed additional RORO ramp and backup area of the Port of Balingoan on January 25, 2024. This is scheduled for early turnover in anticipation of the upcoming peak passenger season in March, particularly the Holy Week.

The primary focus of the inspection was to assess the structural integrity and ensure compliance with the design specifications outlined in the contract. The objective was to determine whether the completed portions, including the Portland Cement Concrete Pavement covering an area of 2,468.23 square meters, the Paving Blocks Area spanning 4,963.50 square meters, and the RORO Ramp extending over 358.10 square meters, met the rigorous project specifications and standards.

Upon careful examination, the PCMD Technical Team reported that the overall quality of the completed areas including the Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, Paving Blocks Area, and RORO Ramp, were found to meet the project specifications, demonstrating both structural soundness and adherence to design standards.

The completion of these crucial components is particularly timely, given the approaching peak passenger season in March, which often experiences a surge in travel during the Holy Week. The additional RORO ramp and backup area are essential for accommodating the increased traffic expected during this period.

The identified areas have been deemed suitable for immediate utilization as requested by the PMO. With the additional RORO ramp and backup area ready for operation, the Port of Balingoan is well-prepared to serve the needs of travelers and businesses during the upcoming peak passenger season.
