In due recognition and gratefulness for their 24/7 frontline service at the ports and as a continuing effort to help ease the burden of frontliners especially during the prevailing threat of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro, in partnership with non-government and civic organizations, distributed relief packs to a total of 176 PPA-hired security personnel on 08 May 2020.
The security personnel received bags that contained rice, assorted canned goods and noodles for their families. The rest of the force multipliers, including those assigned in the Terminal Ports, will be claiming their relief packs thru the Port Police Division upon reporting to duty.
Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac, Jr. together with the Division Managers and the representatives of the civic organizations Rotary Club and the Masonic Family of Cagayan de Oro, led the distribution of the relief packs in the Port of Cagayan de Oro.
Previously, the PMO MO/C and partners also distributed relief goods in three (3) tranches to the porters and families of seafarers who are severely affected by this health crisis.
These activities are in harmony with the government’s call for bayanihan, that is, helping one another especially the frontliners and most vulnerable, so together the country can win over this crisis and heal as one.
