Balingoan – A recent incident at the Port of Balingoan underscored the importance of timely assistance in safeguarding passenger health. A female passenger, bound for Camiguin, arrived at TMO Balingoan and was immediately noticed by port personnel for appearing pale and weak on February 04, 2025. Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that she had recently been discharged from the hospital. This raised concerns about her ability to continue her journey safely.

Recognizing the potential risks to her health, the designated first aider at the terminal swiftly intervened. After a brief evaluation, it was determined that she was stable, but required immediate relief to restore her energy and strength. To provide the necessary support, port personnel promptly offered hot water and soda crackers to help alleviate her weakness. They also encouraged her to rest while waiting for her scheduled trip, ensuring that she was as comfortable as possible during the waiting period.
Recognizing the importance of comprehensive care, the terminal’s staff coordinated with the vessel’s crew to ensure that the passenger would continue to receive proper attention throughout her journey.

The incident highlights the importance of prioritizing passenger welfare at the port. By taking proactive steps in assessing and assisting passengers in need, the safety and well-being of travelers can be safeguarded, ensuring a smooth and secure journey for everyone. In addition to providing for immediate needs, the case exemplifies the importance of cooperation between port staff and vessel crew to guarantee that passengers are well-cared for throughout their travels. Such proactive steps create a safer and more secure travel experience for all.
