A 54-year-old resident of Balbagon, Mambajao, Camiguin, experienced distress while disembarking from the ferry.
The passenger, who was en route to Cagayan de Oro City for her scheduled dialysis, began feeling unwell upon disembarkation from MV Super Shuttle Ferry 5. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, SG Ian Vicente promptly contacted the local Rescue Team of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). This swift communication ensured that the necessary resources and expertise were mobilized promptly to address the medical emergency.
In response to the distress call, the MDRRMO’s ambulance rushed to the scene to provide immediate medical assistance to the passenger. The quick response time of the emergency medical services played a crucial role in stabilizing the passenger’s condition and facilitating a rapid transfer to a healthcare facility in Talisayan Misamis Oriental.
The incident underscored the importance of collaboration between different agencies and emergency services. The seamless coordination between the ferry staff, MDRRMO, and emergency medical services showcased the effectiveness of a well-orchestrated emergency response system.
