The Philippine Ports Authority – Port Management Office Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PPA PMO MOC) hosted a Port Management Advisory Council (PMAC) Sectoral Meeting for Shippers and Shipping Lines with Loose Outbound Shipments at the GAD Hall, PMO MOC Administration Building 2, Port Area, Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro City, on August 11, 2026. Representatives from Oro Port Cargo Handling Services Incorporated, shipping lines, shippers, and PPA personnel attended the meeting to discuss the upcoming opening of Gate 2 at the Port of Cagayan de Oro.
Oro Port Cargo Handling Services Incorporated presented the proposed flow at Gate 2 for loose outbound cargoes. The presentation was followed by an open discussion where participants raised questions, clarified concerns, and shared their inputs on the preparations for the new gate.
A two-week pilot testing will begin on August 17, 2026, covering loose outbound cargoes only. The pilot run will allow the concerned stakeholders to experience the new arrangement under actual operating conditions and identify matters that may require attention before its full implementation.
Following the pilot testing, Gate 2 is scheduled to commence regular operations on September 1, 2026.
The discussion also underscored the importance of having the terminal operator, shipping lines, shippers, and PPA work closely together, especially during the early stage of implementation. With everyone informed and given the opportunity to raise concerns beforehand, the transition is expected to be more manageable for the port community.
With the opening of Gate 2 drawing closer, PPA PMO MOC will continue to coordinate with the concerned stakeholders throughout the pilot testing and succeeding operations. The PMO will remain responsive to concerns and provide the necessary assistance and guidance as the new arrangement takes effect, in support of fast, reliable, and efficient port operations and service delivery.
