Cagayan de Oro City- In line with the commitment to improve animal welfare and ensure public safety, the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental Cagayan de Oro (PMO MO/C), in coordination with the City Veterinary Office, conducted training on Actual Dog Impounding on August 7, 2023. This training is part of the continuing implementation of the Dog Free Zone Program and builds upon the knowledge gained from the previous Seminar on the Proper Handling of Stray Animals conducted on July 12, 2023. The Training was participated by personnel from PPD, Force Multipliers, and Oroport.

The implementation of the Integrated Management System (IMS) aims to streamline and enhance the efficiency of various processes within the local government. One of the key initiatives under the IMS is the Dog Free Zone Program, which is designed to address issues related to stray dogs within the city.

To further enhance the practical knowledge gained from the first seminar, the PMO MOC and City Veterinary Office have organized a follow-up training session on Actual Dog Impounding at a designated location with the presence of deputized personnel from the PMO and City Veterinary staff.

As Cagayan de Oro continues to prioritize animal welfare and public safety, the collaborative efforts of the PMO and City Veterinary Office in implementing the Dog Free Zone Program and organizing the training on Actual Dog Impounding will undoubtedly yield positive results. By equipping personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills, the city can work towards reducing the number of stray animals and creating a safer environment for both residents and animals alike.
