The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) illuminated several buildings and emblematic landmarks in a brilliant shade of blue, symbolizing the unwavering commitment to maritime excellence in several areas at the Baseport, TMO Balingoan, TMO Opol and TMO Camiguin today, September 28, 2023. This is in accordance with the guidance provided by Atty. Hernani N. Fabia and the IMO’s theme “MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on,”
This act of illumination served as a beacon of hope and dedication to the principles enshrined in MARPOL and the broader mission of the IMO. The blue light symbolizes the maritime industry’s resolve to continue safeguarding the world’s oceans and promoting sustainable shipping practices.
Among the illuminated areas are in the baseport which is a crucial hub for maritime activities. The baseport serves as a lifeline for trade and commerce, connecting the Philippines to the global maritime network. Its radiant blue illumination not only celebrated the industry’s achievements but also underlined the importance of maintaining high environmental standards within this vital maritime node.
In addition to the baseport, the PMO MOC extended its symbolic tribute to other key locations. The Port of Opol, Balingoan, Balbagon and Benoni were all bathed in the captivating blue glow. These strategic locations exemplify the diversity and significance of the maritime industry in the Philippines.
