In anticipation of Tropical Depression “AGHON,” as reported by PAGASA at 0500H on 24 May 2024, the Port Management Office (PMO) of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (MOC) is undertaking various preparatory activities to ensure the safety and convenience of passengers and port operations.
Port Manager Isidro Butaslac has taken proactive steps by mobilizing the Inclement Weather Committee. This committee is tasked with closely monitoring and reporting on the periodic progress of TD AGHON, ensuring timely updates and responses to the evolving weather situation.
In addition, directives have been issued to the Terminal Management Offices (TMOs) to ensure that all port facilities are fully prepared to address passenger concerns, particularly for those affected by trip cancellations due to inclement weather. This includes maintaining clear communication with travelers and offering the necessary support.
To support passengers who might be stranded due to trip cancellations, the PMO MOC has arranged for the PPA Lugaw Cart and drinking water to be available at any time. This provision is aimed at offering immediate relief and comfort to passengers during the inclement weather.
Ensuring continuous operations, the PMO MOC has refueled the standby generator to maintain the power supply in case of outages, thereby ensuring that essential services and operations at the port can continue without interruption. Charging stations are also fully functional.
The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro remains committed to the safety and welfare of all passengers and port users and will continue to monitor the situation closely to provide timely updates and support.
