The Port Management of Misamis Oriental Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) took part in the annual 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) on November 25, 2024. The event, held at the Amphitheater in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, was a significant show of solidarity and support in advocating for the elimination of violence against women in the Philippines.
The day kicked off with a motorcade from Rotonda Circle to the Amphitheater, with participants proudly displaying their commitment to the cause. The program proper commenced at 7:30 AM, with a comprehensive presentation by the GAD (Gender and Development) Focal Persons, who shared valuable insights and expertise on gender equality and the prevention of violence against women. Their session highlighted the importance of community involvement, education, and the active participation of all sectors in addressing VAW.
During the event, all attendees were invited to sign the commitment wall, further cementing their pledge to support the campaign and stand against violence. The wall was a powerful visual representation of the collective determination of everyone involved in the movement. Following the program, participants took part in a lively Zumba session, adding an element of fun and physical activity to the day while continuing to promote the message of empowerment.
In the afternoon, the PMO MOC employees watched the film showing of “Pauwi Na” at the PPA Building 2, GAD Hall. The screening was part of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW and aimed to further raise awareness about the impact of VAW and inspire positive social change.
This year’s campaign, marked by educational activities, advocacy, and solidarity, proves that by working together, we can create a VAW-free future for all Filipinas.
