CAGAYAN DE ORO (BASEPORT) – The Port Management of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) commenced the year with a meaningful event starting 2025 with a Flag Raising Ceremony and New Year’s Assembly held at the GAD Hall, Building 2 on January 06, 2025. This was not only a celebration of the new year, but also a time for reflection, camaraderie, and setting the tone for the year ahead.
The program kicked off with a solemn Invocation followed by the acknowledgement of Senior Staff members who have been instrumental in the daily operations and success of PMO MOC. Their leadership and dedication were celebrated as they continue to guide the agency forward.
As the program progressed, updates from each division were presented together with their taglines anchored on the hashtags #SEA and #FIT providing the staff with insights into the ongoing projects, plans, and initiatives for the year. The tagline serves as a reminder of the commitment to service excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement in the port management sector.
The heart of the event was the message delivered by Port Manager Fernando “Toto” B. Mapalo, Jr. In his speech, APM stressed the importance of collaboration and coordination among the team to ensure the smooth execution of plans and goals in 2025. He highlighted the significance of the hashtag #SeaTransportandTravelExperience staying focused on the agency’s strategic objectives while adapting to the dynamic environment of port operations. He also reiterated the 7 daily office rules which are: Pursue Excellence, Treat Everyone with respect, Promote Teamwork, Motivate, Embrace Change, Seek Knowledge and Create Opportunities.
The event continued with the Presentation of Objectives for 2025, where the key priorities and initiatives for the year were outlined. These objectives were aligned with PMO MOC’s overall strategic direction, emphasizing operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, safety, and sustainability.
As part of the program, the Validation of CY 2024 OPCR Accomplishments was conducted. This allowed the team to assess the performance of the previous year’s commitments and achievements, ensuring accountability and providing insights for continuous improvement.
Lastly, the event focused on the Coordination in the Execution of CY 2025 OPCR Commitments. Department heads and staff discussed the necessary actions, resources, and strategies required to meet the goals for 2025. By aligning their efforts, they ensure that PMO MOC remains on track to fulfill its mission and continue to provide top-tier port management services.
The first Monday Flag Raising and New Year’s Toast at PMO MOC was a fitting way to start the year, with a renewed sense of purpose and unity among the team. As PMO MOC looks forward to 2025, the commitment to excellence in port operations remains at the forefront of the organization’s priorities. With strong leadership, dedicated staff, and clear objectives, the agency is poised to continue contributing to the development and growth of the region’s maritime industry.
