Typhoon Odette was the 15th and the strongest storm to hit the country in 2021. It made its landfall on the 16th of December, developing from a Category 1 storm to Category 5 within 24 hours. Heavy rains and strong winds flooded the islands of Siargao, Surigao, Leyte, Cebu, and Bohol, leaving behind destroyed homes and properties. More than 400 deaths were reported days after the said typhoon, with 25% coming from localities in Bohol.

The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro was able to aid areas severely affected by Typhoon Odette. On December 19, three days after the devastating calamity, relief operations were conducted for the province of Surigao, which experienced the most damage as it was in the eye of the storm during the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.  The PMO MO/C also facilitated the transportation of relief goods from other PMOs, namely PMO Ozamis and PMO Lanao del Norte.

Relief Operations were also organized for Bohol and Cebu; provinces that also suffered the wrath of TS Odette.  The PMO MO/C was able to facilitate the transportation of relief goods from several organizations and offices led by Fr. Bong Dublan and his associates, who were on their way to Bohol to conduct a relief operation. Linemen of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) were also assisted at the Port of Cagayan de Oro during their assignment to restore power transmission services in the affected areas.-BCAcedera
