The 12-member Choral Group of PMO MOC advances to the finals of the PPA Himig Pasko Choral Competition after winning the Northern Mindanao Cluster qualifying round on 26 November 2018, at Grand Caprice Restaurant, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.
The members, in their royal blue gowns with silver accents for females and white barong for the males, performed two (2) Christmas songs: an acapella of a musical piece which is the same to all contestants, followed by a song of choice delivered with choreography. The group has bested the Choral groups from the PMOs of Surigao and Iligan who also presented admirable performances.
The Himig Pasko Choral Competition was initiated by the Philippine Ports Authority Head Office to promote cultural excellence and discover the musical talent among PPA employees. The competition served as a venue for the PPA employees, regular or outsourced, to showcase their talents and explore other heights beyond the four corners of the office.
The PMOs nationwide were grouped into five (5) clusters in which each cluster must organize a qualifying competition. The winners from each cluster shall automatically move up to the finals/championship round on 13 December 2018 at the PPA Head Office in Manila. -By IMR Lam
