To mark the 46th year of dedicated service to the Filipinos and the country, the Philippine Ports Authority celebrated its anniversary on 13 July 2020 via online gathering of personnel from all Port Management Offices (PMOs) and Terminal Management Offices (TMOs) nationwide.

The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MO/C) together with TMO Opol, Balingoan, and Camiguin joined the virtual celebration. A video message was also prepared by the PMO in commemoration of the Authority’s founding anniversary.

With its theme, “Kabalikat ng Bayan sa Pagbangon,” the virtual program of the event included the recap of the PPA’s achievement and continuing services and measures to ease the burden of port clients (e.g extension of rental and concession fee payments and the validity of approvals/permits) in the midst of the crisis brought by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID19) pandemic. On even date, PPA launched the e-payment portal for online transactions of port stakeholders with the port to minimize face-to-face interactions between port personnel and clients.

Relative to the “serbisyo at malasakit” campaign, PMOs nationwide have extended assistance to the port stakeholders in their respective Area of Responsibility (AOR) who were severely affected by the health crisis. The PMO MO/C distributed relief goods to the security personnel, porters, and families of Filipino seafarers at CDO Port.

The Authority and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) were able to complete 14 port projects during the quarantine period. PPA has also remitted in advance over P4 billion  dividend to the country’s coffer as additional support to the government’s spending measures against the COVID19 pandemic.

From all these, PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago remarked that the PPA does not only exist to manage the ports but also to be “kabalikat ng bayan sa pagbangon.” He thanked all the PPA personnel for the prompt response to the call of giving unwavering service amid the ongoing pandemic.

In his inspirational message, Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade, lauded the Authority, “Mapalad ang bayan na may maasahan silang serbisyo na mabilis, mahusay at higit sa lahat, may malasakit.”
