The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro celebrated its 47th year in public service on 18 April 2022 with the theme, “Transcending limits, embracing challenges of the new normal”.

Various activities were conducted as early as the 1st day of April in celebration of the 47th anniversary. After the hustle of facilitating environmental initiatives, among others, the PMO transcends limits by organizing more programs and activities not only for its personnel and stakeholders, but for the public as well.

The first activity conducted on 01 April 2022 was a PMO-wide Zumba session. All personnel (regular and outsourced) were encouraged to take a break from office work and join in on fun-filled exercises. Special recognition was given to participants who showed enthusiasm and pure energy during the culminating activity, which was supposed to be held on 15 April 2022 (Good Friday), the actual date of the anniversary. However, since it is the same time as the holy week, it was postponed on 18 April 2022, Monday.

In support of the spiritual and emotional well-being of the members of the PMO and in view of the Lenten Season, a recollection was held on 12 April 2022 which was led by the Daughters of Charity. The event was a blended virtual and in-person session.

After the long weekend, all personnel of the PMO attended a Thanksgiving Mass presided by Msgr. Tex Legitimas, the National Director of the Apostleship of the Sea, to give praises to the Almighty Father for His constant guidance and provision. The Eucharistic Celebration was conducted face-to-face and via Zoom videoconference for those who are unable to attend physically due to the limited number of people allowed in compliance with IATF guidelines for cities under Alert Level 1. In the afternoon of the same day, the PMO personnel gathered once again for the culminating program, wherein Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac, Jr. delivered his anniversary message as well as the greeting from PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago. In his message to PMO MOC, Atty. Santiago commended the personnel of PMO MOC for their dedication to public service amidst the challenges of the pandemic.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with enjoyment as the PMO personnel participated in trivia games, dance numbers from the regular and outsourced talents, and the awarding ceremony for the dedicated employees who served for more than ten (10) years.-BCAcedera
