The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro City together with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM), and the members of the Port and Maritime Management Advisory Council (PMMAC) and Port Security Advisory Committee (PSAC) convened last 13 September 2023 for the 3rd Quarter CY 2023 Joint Meeting via Zoom Application.

The said meeting started with updates from PPA, MARINA, and CGDNM. Updates regarding the preparations for the 24th National Maritime Week Celebration were presented by the Regional Director of MARINA-X, including the schedule activities and meetings for the week-long event. The PMO also presented updates on its Port Infrastructure Development Projects and informed the attendees regarding the upcoming Public Consultation on the Proposed Rules and Regulations on the Renewal or Extension of Existing Contracts of Port Terminal Operators.

During the breakout room sessions, Atty. Gina Luna Zayas-Sabio, Regional Election Attorney of the Commission on Election, informed the attendees on the Implementation of the Gun Ban in line with the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE). Through this sharing of information, the port will be able to effectively and efficiently reinforce its security protocols, especially on the handling of passengers carrying firearms and are passing through the ports during the monitored period.

The PMO expressed its sincere gratitude to all the attendees of the meeting for their incessant support and continuing collaboration in working together to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of the port users, stakeholders, and the sea-going public.
