The MV Pearl Asia of the Fujitrans Logistics Philippines Inc. has made her first call at the Port of Cagayan de Oro on 20 September 2019, commencing the company’s domestic shipping operation.

The RORO vessel with length overall of 129 meters was carrying a total of 42 rolling cargoes. Fujitrans is set to bring in weekly calls at CDO Port carrying rolling cargoes of various models from major car brands.

In order to enhance the handling of the said rolling cargoes and ensure smooth operation, personnel of the CDO Port’s cargo handling operator (CHO), Oroport Cargo Handling Services, Inc. underwent a three (3)-day training-seminar last June 2019. The said training was conducted by the Fujitrans-Philippines personnel and Japanese representatives from their Head Office in Japan.

The new ship call and the anticipated increase in cargo volume are seen to be another milestone/progress for the Port of Cagayan de Oro.— IMR Lam
