MV GUDALI EXPRESS unloaded 1,200 heads of Pregnant Dairy Heifer from Australia and 8 heads of Breeder Junior Bulls of 484.64 Metric tons on March 13, 2023, at the base port of Macabalan Wharf, Port of Cagayan de Oro.

In accordance with the National Dairy Authority’s (NDA) US Public Law 480 project, the PL 480 allows for “friendly” nations with a food shortage to buy US agricultural products with their national currency, conserving foreign exchange reserves and reducing American grain surpluses. By introducing purebred and crossbred dairy stocks, using cutting-edge breeding techniques, and establishing/increasing dairy operations within dairy animal populations, it seeks to boost dairy herd development and enhance milk production.

The Port of Cagayan de Oro served as the gateway for these cattle to be shipped to farmers all over Mindanao. Shipped by the Southeast Asian Livestock Services in Darwin Australia, the discharging activity had been attended to and witnessed by the 55 employees and 9 guests of the National Dairy Authority (NDA), port operations personnel of PPA-MOC, and other participating private and government agencies.

The MV GUDALI EXPRESS, voyage number 23002 of Benline Agencies Philippines Inc., with a Gross Registered Tonnage (GRT) of 10, 421 and a Length Overall (LOA) of 134.8 meters and boarded by 28 Filipino Seafarers out of 30 crews, the said vessel arrived at Berths 12 and 13 Baseport of Macabalan wharf, Port of Cagayan de Oro under the pilotage service of Capt. B. S. Molano M.M and assisted by Motor tugs Charger and Limay of Malayan Towage and Salvage Corp.

Through direct-to-truck operation via cattle ramp, it was immediately transported by 13 transport trailer truck units from the port to the livestock facility run by Del Monte Philippines in Barangay San Miguel, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, for the required 30 days of quarantine before distribution to the pre-selected and qualified farmer recipient.

MV GUDALI EXPRESS completed operation at 06:10 PM, March 14, 2023, and departed from berth for her next port of call, Masbate, Philippines at exactly 07:42 PM, the same day, under the pilotage service of Capt. J.D. Mutia M.M. and assisted by motor tugs Charger and Limay.
