As the year comes to a close, the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro looks back on its milestones and accomplishments for 2022 during the Year-End Evaluation and General Assembly on 09 December 2022.

Overcoming the challenges during the year, the PMO continues its drive for safe, secure, and sustainable port operations and gives its utmost gratitude to the hardworking employees and agency partners who have greatly contributed to all the achievements for the year.

Thanksgiving and Gift-giving Activity

The day started with a Eucharistic mass which was attended by the PMO Personnel at the Port of Cagayan de Oro’s newly rehabilitated Amenity Building, to offer thanksgiving to the Almighty Father for His constant guidance, protection, and provision bestowed to the PMO. Afterwards, a Gift-giving activity was conducted in partnership with the Stella Maris Apostleship of the Sea. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and in view of the upcoming holidays, food packs and grocery items were given to the beneficiaries of Stella Maris – families living near the port area. During the program, Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac, Jr. gave a Christmas message to the beneficiaries, highlighting the holidays as a season of giving and being a blessing to others.

Year-end Evaluation and General Assembly

In the afternoon, the PMO personnel prepared for their annual general assembly set at the Passenger Terminal Building, Port of Cagayan de Oro. The activity started with a “fellowship dinner” wherein all employees including those from the Terminal Management Offices of Opol, Balingoan, and Camiguin took part in. This was followed by a short program wherein PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago delivered an inspiring message for the PMO. “Sa panahong ito, marami tayong dadaanang pagsubok; subalit tiwala ako na sama-sama nating pagtagumpayan ang mga hamong ito.”

Looking back on its accomplishments, the PMO also expressed its sincere gratitude to the hardworking personnel who wholeheartedly gave their time, effort, and commitment in delivering PPA’s mandates. Certificates and plaques of appreciation were awarded to employees with more than ten (10) years of service, those who volunteered in initiatives such as mangrove/tree growing activities and Oplan Biyaheng Ayos, among others.

One of the highlights during the program was a video showcasing a year’s worth of projects and milestones accompanied by an original song written by its personnel, Ms. Bo C. Acedera and Mr. John Alexis A. Babano, entitled, “Kaagapay”. Infrastructure projects, environmental programs, and sustainable port operations, among others, were shown in the video as well as a message from the PMO, “Sa gitna ng hamon ng makabagong panahon, ang PMO MO/C ay mananatiling kaagapay ng bawat Pilipino.”
