BALINGOAN, MISAMIS ORIENTAL – A 19 year old male individual was apprehended for the possession of illegal drugs during a routine screening at the Port of Balingoan on January 25, 2025. The suspect, a passenger aboard the MV Kalinaw, was scheduled for the 12:30 PM voyage bound for Camiguin Province.

At approximately 12:00 PM, security personnel conducted a routine frisk and found the individual in possession of suspected illegal drugs, identified as shabu. Immediately following the discovery, the suspect was detained and handed over to the authorities for further investigation.

Local authorities, including the Maritime Police, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Barangay Bauk-Bauk representative, responded quickly to the incident. The individual was subjected to the proper legal procedures, and the case is now under the jurisdiction of the PNP Maritime Police for further disposition.

The Port of Balingoan remains committed to maintaining strict security measures to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. Authorities are continuing to monitor and enhance their operations to prevent illegal activities at the port.
