Members of the Advisory Council 10 for Peace, Transformation and Development concluded their first quarter meeting for 2020 on 21 February with a total of nine (9) resolutions passed to the respective Provincial Local Government Units concerning various infrastructure projects towards improved and efficient security management in Misamis Oriental and neighboring provinces, especially in the airports.

Discussed also during the said advisory meeting was the updates on the proposed adoption of simulation exercises (SimEx) and Incident Command System by the aviation community as already been implemented in the Port of Cagayan de Oro. With the goal of having a premier airport, there is a need to establish a good ICS. The body asked for other agencies to participate in the SimEx and requested the Philippine Coast Guard to share their knowledge and expertise in the conduct of the same. Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac, Jr. had invited last year the members of the Council to witness and observe the SimEx held on 24 September 2019 during the National Maritime Week celebration.

Before the adjournment of the meeting, the Aviation Security Unity-10 conferred plaques of appreciation to Hon. Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” B. Emano, the Governor of Misamis Oriental, the officers, and the members of the Council for their unwavering support and participation towards efficient and effective security management to bolster safety measures for the riding public in airports. — By IMR Lam
