Advanced technology of surveillance cameras will be installed in 16 PPA ports nationwide, including the Port of Cagayan de Oro in its Passenger Terminal Building.
Representatives from the service provider, Beyondsight Intelligent Surveillance Center, conducted an orientation before the PMO MO/C’s Port Manager, personnel from the Port Police and Engineering Divisions, IT team, PTC supervisor, among others on 25 October 2019.
Through the most modern cameras and its monitoring system, a digital transformation is expected to be injected in the port’s security: prevention, real-time intervention, and containment, of any port incidents/accidents. These cameras can perform the following functions: vehicle tracking, small object and people outdoor tracking, left detection (for any belonging left at the Port); face recognition, people counting (ingress and egress), indoor people tracking with heat mapping, motion detection, and crowd detection (occupancy rate against capacity rate).
The transmission of information/notification will also be more modernized for a faster and efficient relay of information for prompt actions, wherein contacts can receive SMS for any minor port incident, and SMS and calls for major port incidents. A weekly or monthly report of all the detected incidents can be provided by the Beyondsight analyst team to the PMO.
The service provider will also render the repair and maintenance services of its cameras to all its client PPA ports. — By IMR Lam
