On February 27, 2024, the Camp Evangelista Gymnasium in Patag, Cagayan de Oro, was filled with energy and excitement as the much-awaited opening of the 2024 NOMIN Cluster Sportsfest unfolded. The event, which brought together various ports under the NOMIN cluster, commenced with a lot of activities aimed at fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among participants. This event promotes mental wellness and keeps PPA employees healthy through sports.
The proceedings commenced with the orderly registration of players, signifying the official commencement of the Sportsfest. Following this, participants from different clusters were warmly acknowledged, with special recognition given to the host, PMO LNI, and the co-host, PMO MOC, alongside PMO Agusan, PMO MOZ, and PMO Surigao.
Port Manager Isidro Butaslac Jr. of PMO MOC gave his welcome remarks, extending gratitude to all participants and emphasizing the significance of unity and sportsmanship in the spirit of competition.
Subsequently, each Port Manager took the stage to deliver their messages, sharing words of encouragement, motivation, and best wishes to their respective teams. These messages not only reflected the determination and competitive spirit of each port but also highlighted the collective goal of promoting excellence and cooperation within the NOMIN cluster.
As the anticipation heightened, the gymnasium erupted with energetic chants from different PMOs, igniting the crowd with team spirit. The unity displayed through these chants showcased the solidarity and pride of each port, further enhancing the sense of community among participants.
The excitement reached its pinnacle as the banners of each port were hoisted high by their respective muses and escorts, symbolizing the official representation of each team in the Sportsfest. The lighting of the torch further amplified the ceremonial nature of the event led by each PMO’s Sports Coordinator.
Moreover, the program featured a solemn oath of Sportsmanship, emphasizing the values of integrity, respect, and fair play that would guide participants throughout the Sportsfest. This pledge underscored the importance of sportsmanship in fostering a healthy and competitive environment conducive to personal growth and mutual respect.
To invigorate participants, a lively Zumba session ensued, uniting everyone in a celebration of movement and vitality. With anticipation running high, the stage was set for an exhilarating showcase of talent, determination, and teamwork in the days to come until the closing ceremony on February 29, 2024.
