The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) joined fellow maritime stakeholders from the Maritime Industry Authority-X (MARINA-X), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), PNP Maritime Group, and Shell Pilipinas Corporation in the One-day Friendship Games for the 2026 Maritime Week held at Sports Avenue, Alwana Business Park, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City on 19 September 2026, featuring friendly competitions in badminton, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, and darts to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, friendship, and camaraderie within the maritime community.
The Friendship Games provided participants with an opportunity to showcase their athletic skills while strengthening relationships with colleagues from different agencies and organizations. The sporting activities included badminton men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles; table tennis men’s singles, women’s singles, and women’s doubles; as well as volleyball, basketball, and darts.
PPA PMO MOC turned in a strong performance across the different sporting events, securing championship titles in volleyball and darts and finishing first in basketball. Its representatives also earned notable placements in badminton and table tennis, demonstrating their skill and determination throughout the competitions. The results reflected not only the team’s competitive spirit but also the teamwork, camaraderie, and active participation of PPA PMO MOC personnel in the Maritime Week 2026 Friendship Games.
In badminton, PPA PMO MOC secured the championship in women’s doubles, while placing second in men’s doubles and mixed doubles. In table tennis, PPA PMO MOC earned second place in women’s singles, men’s singles, and women’s doubles. These performances added to PPA PMO MOC’s overall showing in the Friendship Games.
The volleyball competition proved to be one of the highlights for PPA PMO MOC, with the team emerging as champion, followed by PCG, MARINA, and Shell. In basketball, PNP Maritime claimed the championship, while PPA PMO MOC finished in first place. PPA PMO MOC also took the championship in darts, further adding to the organization’s list of victories during the sporting event.
Beyond the competition, the Friendship Games offered a chance for personnel from the participating agencies to interact in a relaxed setting outside their regular work environment. The games fostered teamwork, mutual respect, and camaraderie among individuals who work together in various aspects of the maritime sector.
The Maritime Week 2026 Friendship Games served as more than a sporting event. Through badminton, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, and darts, the activity brought the maritime community together in an atmosphere of friendly competition and fellowship.
