The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) and the Port Management Office of Lanao Norte, Iligan (PMO LNI) took part in the inspection of the newly constructed Port of Marawi, led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on June 23, 2025. This inspection marks a key milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to restore Marawi City’s connectivity and accelerate its economic recovery nearly seven years after the devastating 2017 siege.
During the inspection, President Marcos was accompanied by key officials including PPA General Manager Jay Santiago, Presidential Adviser for Marawi Rehabilitation and Development Sec. Nasser Pangandaman, Sr., Lanao del Sur Provincial Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong, Jr., and other local officials.
The Port of Marawi, which has been constructed as part of a major government infrastructure initiative, is seen as a vital element in the city’s long-term rehabilitation. Marawi City, which suffered massive damage during the 2017 siege, is now poised for recovery through a series of infrastructure projects aimed at revitalizing the local economy and rebuilding critical infrastructure.
