As part of its continuing commitment to improving port operations, the Port Management Office–Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) recently conducted a walk-through inspection at Admin Building 1 and the Passenger Terminal Complex (PTC). The inspection was led by the Acting Port Manager in coordination with the Port Police Division on May 21, 2025

One of the major outcomes of the inspection is the decision to prohibit non-cargo vehicles from entering through Gate 3. This change is intended to ease traffic congestion and ensure that cargo-related movements are given priority, thereby streamlining port logistics.

The inspection also opened discussions on the potential relocation of the admeasuring operations currently situated near Gate 2. Oroport Cargo Handling, the designated cargo operator, is considering transferring these operations to the opposite side of Admin Building 1. If this plan pushes through, the area that will be vacated may be converted into a dedicated parking space for port personnel and clients, offering a more organized and accessible facility.

In terms of security, responsibilities in several strategic areas—including Gates 1D, 1E, and 1F, the ticket inspection point, and the Passenger Terminal Building parking area—will gradually be turned over to security personnel contracted by Oroport. This transition is expected to enhance coordination and operational focus by streamlining security management within the port.

Additionally, changes will be made to the staffing of baggage x-ray monitoring posts. New personnel will be deployed to these areas to help improve the screening process and ensure a more efficient experience for passengers.

These efforts reflect the Philippine Ports Authority’s proactive approach in fostering a safer, more organized, and passenger-oriented environment, reinforcing its role in supporting the region’s growing maritime activity and economic development.
