In line with the implementation of the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 001, Series of 2025, issued by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) has taken proactive steps to align stakeholders in enforcing domestic passenger vessel capacity limits. To ensure effective coordination and compliance, PMO MOC has extended formal invitations to various maritime stakeholders for a joint meeting on August 6, 2025, held at the GAD Hall, PMO Admin Building No. 2, Port Area, Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro City.
The said JMC, released on May 6, 2025, outlines the Implementing Guidelines on the Enforcement of Domestic Passenger Vessel Capacity Limits, aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers onboard inter-island vessels throughout the country.
The meeting aims to establish clear roles, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms among regulatory agencies, shipping lines, and ticketing outlets in implementing the JMC across the jurisdiction of PMO MOC and its terminal ports.
This initiative reflects PMO MOC’s commitment to prioritizing maritime safety and reinforcing multi-agency collaboration to uphold passenger welfare in sea travel. The support and participation of all concerned parties are seen as vital to the success of this enforcement campaign.
