The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MO/C) successfully conducted a Hybrid Urban Gardening Seminar on July 22, 2025, at the GAD Hall, Admin Building 2, Port Area, Cagayan de Oro City. This initiative is in line with the national thrust toward sustainability and environmental stewardship under the Bagong Pilipinas framework and the PMO’s core values of Sustainability, Efficiency, and Admirability (SEA).
With the theme of promoting environmental responsibility and urban resilience, the seminar brought together PPA personnel interested in practical approaches to gardening in limited spaces. Experts from the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Ronald Allan P. Camaddo and Mr. Geonarca C. Abejero, shared valuable insights on the principles of urban gardening—from soil management to container planting and composting. A dynamic demonstration session followed, where participants engaged in actual planting techniques, guided by the DA team.
A hands-on Demonstration Session followed, where Mr. Camaddo and Mr. Abejero guided attendees through the actual steps of setting up an urban garden though a Kratky method hydroponic system. This interactive session allowed participants to better understand and apply what they learned during the lecture.
Through this initiative, PMO MO/C continues to cultivate awareness and action towards environmental responsibility, empowering employees and stakeholders to become champions of urban agriculture and ecological sustainability.
