The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MO/C) announced the reopening of Gate No. 5 of the Port of Cagayan de Oro effective 10 December 2025. Located along Valenzuela Road. The gate was officially reopened to support smoother traffic flow and enhance overall port operations.
Closed in 2017 during the Marawi Siege as part of heightened security measures, Gate No. 5 has long served as a vital access point for vehicles and port users. Its reopening forms part of the PMO’s ongoing efforts to decongest surrounding roads, particularly the busy Corrales area, and to promote a more efficient circulation of vehicles entering and exiting the port.
The gate now accommodates cargo-laden trucks, empty and loaded containers, private vehicles with valid entry stickers, and port service vehicles. It also provides convenient access for PPA personnel and clients transacting at Admin Building 2. By restoring this additional entry and exit route, PMO MO/C aims to streamline logistics operations and ensure a safer, more orderly environment for all port stakeholders.
Prior to reopening, Gate No. 5 underwent on-site inspection to ensure its readiness for regular operations. Port users were advised to follow the prescribed traffic routes, port security protocols, and access requirements to ensure smooth and safe passage through the newly reopened gate.
Gate No. 5 now operates from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, serving as an entry and exit point for designated vehicles. Meanwhile, Gate No. 3 continues to function as both an entry and exit area within the Macabalan Port.
The PMO MO/C reaffirmed its commitment to providing improved services, easing traffic congestion, and ensuring that mobility within and around the port remains safe, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the community.
