A coastal clean-up drive was conducted along the perimeter near the entrance of the Port of Opol, situated along Macajalar Bay in Luyong Bonbon, Opol. The activity was part of the “Adopt an Estero” Program, an environmental initiative of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) on August 5, 2025.

As an official adopter of the program, the Terminal Management Office of Opol (TMO-Opol) actively participated in the clean-up effort, following an invitation from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Opol through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO). KKC Construction was also invited to join the initiative.

Personnel from TMO-Opol, LGU Opol – MENRO, and KKC Construction worked collaboratively to collect waste and debris in the designated area. The primary objective was to safeguard the marine environment and raise awareness about the importance of proper waste management, especially in coastal zones vulnerable to pollution. Through the collective efforts of all participants, significant amounts of litter and marine debris were removed, reducing threats to marine life and contributing to cleaner coastal waters.

This clean-up activity highlighted the vital role of community engagement in environmental conservation. The ongoing collaboration between TMO-Opol and LGU Opol – MENRO demonstrates a shared commitment to protecting the ecological integrity of Macajalar Bay and promoting sustainable practices within the community.
