The BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06), one of the Philippine Navy’s newest and most advanced guided-missile corvettes, was open for free public viewing at the Port of Cagayan de Oro from September 17–18, 2025, as part of the Navy’s “Show-the-Flag” mission. The visit offered the public an exclusive opportunity to explore the capabilities of the Navy’s modern fleet.

The public viewing allowed visitors to tour the ship, exploring its command center, weapon systems, and bridge, gaining firsthand knowledge of its operational capabilities.

This initiative was part of the Navy’s broader strategy to increase public awareness of its modernized assets and emphasize the importance of maritime security. The event also highlighted the Navy’s ongoing efforts to engage with local communities and build stronger ties with stakeholders. By opening the BRP Miguel Malvar to the public, the Philippine Navy reaffirmed its commitment to regional stability and the protection of the nation’s maritime borders, while showcasing its enhanced defense capabilities in the face of growing security challenges.

The presence and support of PMO MOC led by its Port Manager further underscored the value of inter-agency cooperation in strengthening the country’s naval and port operations.
