The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MO/C) successfully hosted a benchmarking activity for the Seaport Department of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) on July 9, 2025, at the GAD Hall, Admin Building 2, Port of Cagayan de Oro.

The benchmarking visit was conducted as part of SBMA’s continuous efforts to enhance their seaport operations and management systems, particularly on the handling of liquid bulk cargoes This face-to-face benchmarking was a follow-up to an initial online engagement conducted last July 25, 2023, between PMO MO/C, the SBMA Seaport Department, and Oroport Cargo Handling Services Inc. (OROPORT) focusing on the liquid bulk tariff.

The activity formally commenced with an Invocation Prayer and the singing of the Pambansang Awit, followed by the presentation of the PMO MO/C Safety Protocol to ensure the safety and security of all participants. Key guests and participants were then acknowledged before the formal introduction of the PMO MO/C key personnel.

The program proceeded with a series of Audio-Visual Presentations featuring Global Gateway to Mindanao and the Green Port Award System, highlighting PMO MO/C’s significant achievements and sustainability initiatives in port operations.

A key highlight of the activity was the Cargo Handling Operator Presentation by OROPORT, specifically focusing on liquid bulk cargoes handling and operational best practices, which provided valuable insights for the SBMA delegation. An Open Forum followed, providing both agencies the platform to discuss operational strategies, environmental initiatives, and future collaborations. To culminate the visit, a Facility Tour was conducted, giving the SBMA delegation a firsthand look at the port

This activity reaffirms PMO MO/C’s commitment to promoting a Sustainability, Efficiency, and Admirability (SEA) Experience in Philippine ports — a continuous effort to position the Port of Cagayan de Oro as a model gateway in Mindanao.
