The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) successfully held the first batch of its 2025 Workplace Team Building and Wellness Program in the enchanting island of Siquijor from May 1 to 3, 2025. The three-day activity was filled with insightful learning sessions, fun activities, and meaningful moments aimed at promoting emotional well-being and strengthening camaraderie among its employees.
The group made a stopover at the Port of Dumaguete, where they were warmly welcomed by Acting Port Manager Rey T. Del Moro and the dedicated port employees. A simple but heartfelt turnover ceremony marked the brief visit, symbolizing the unity and camaraderie within the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) community.
Upon arrival at Siquijor, the team stayed at the PMO Negros Oriental/Siquijor GAD Hall where they took part in a webinar entitled “Workplace Wellness: A Focus on Emotional Well-being” facilitated by Ms. Mary Therese G. Lasanas a Registered Psychometrician. The session provided a timely and thought-provoking discussion on understanding the Filipino work culture. It encouraged participants to reflect on their circle of control — including their boundaries, words, and behaviors.
Ms. Lasanas also shared six practical strategies for improving emotional health and emphasized the importance of emotion regulation in maintaining a balanced and productive work environment. The session left the team with valuable takeaways on self-awareness, stress management, and fostering a supportive workplace culture.
The day’s activities continued at Sunset Glamping Village, where the team embraced a Tropical Nights-themed fellowship. Laughter, music, and stories filled the evening as employees bonded over food, games, and light-hearted conversations, further boosting team spirit.
The program was made even more memorable with a tour around the island of Siquijor. The team explored popular attractions and engaged in water activities, all designed to promote good emotional well-being, encourage collaboration, and create lasting memories. The breathtaking scenery and shared experiences during the tour fostered deeper connections among colleagues and allowed everyone to momentarily disconnect from the pressures of work.
This first batch of the 2025 Team Building and Wellness Program proved to be a resounding success. Not only did it offer a refreshing break, but it also strengthened relationships and cultivated a more harmonious and emotionally resilient work environment. The PMO MOC team returned home with renewed energy and a stronger commitment to nurturing a healthier, happier, and more productive workplace.
