The Philippine Ports Authority – Port Management Office Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PPA PMO MOC) personnel attended the OROPORT Cargo Handling Services, Inc. and CMA CGM Open Forum on October 14, 2026, at Limketkai Luxe Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City. The activity brought together representatives from Oroport, CMA CGM, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, the Bureau of Customs (BOC), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), shippers, brokers, and other maritime industry stakeholders to discuss port procedures and address concerns related to cargo transactions.
The forum covered the procedures involved in handling import and export shipments at the Port of Cagayan de Oro. Discussions included the documents required for cargo processing, payment of port charges, container entry and release, and the steps involved in cargo examination and loading.
Participants were also briefed on various port and terminal charges, including wharfage, arrastre, lift-on and lift-off, storage, reefer plug charges, and fees for dangerous cargo. The presentation also explained the allocation of certain charges between PPA and Oroport.
Procedures for containers subject to X-ray examination were likewise discussed. These included checking the required documents, settling applicable fees, coordinating with the Vancon Office, and working with the Bureau of Customs during the examination process.
During the question-and-answer portion, shippers, brokers, and other participants were given the opportunity to raise their concerns and seek clarification on matters affecting their transactions. The questions raised during the discussion were addressed by the concerned representatives, allowing participants to better understand the requirements and procedures involved in cargo handling and processing.
For shippers and brokers who regularly coordinate with shipping lines, terminal operators, and government agencies, having a clear understanding of these procedures helps them prepare the necessary documents and comply with the applicable requirements. The open forum also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss operational concerns and clarify processes that form part of their day-to-day transactions.
PPA PMO MOC’s participation in the activity reflects its continued coordination with port operators, shipping lines, shippers, brokers, government agencies, and other port stakeholders. Through activities such as this, the office supports open communication and cooperation among industry partners in addressing concerns and facilitating the efficient movement of cargo at the Port of Cagayan de Oro.
