The Philippine Ports Authority – Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PPA PMO MO/C) participated in the Free Walking City Tour organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region X, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro City, on August 7, 2026.

The activity formed part of the Domestic Tourism and Re-Discover CDO Program, which seeks to promote awareness and appreciation of Cagayan de Oro City’s rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and local identity while encouraging greater participation in domestic tourism initiatives.

The tour commenced with an assembly at Gaston Park from 7:30 to 7:55 a.m., followed by a walking tour from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Participants visited several notable cultural and historical sites across the city, including St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral, City Museum of Cagayan de Oro, Gaston Park, Duaw Park, Cagayan de Oro City Hall, City Hall Amphitheater, Rizal Park, JR Borja Monument, Kiosko Kagawasan, El Pueblo a Sus-Heroes Monument, Magsaysay Park, La Favourite, Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, and Museo de Oro.

More than a simple city tour, the activity provided participants an opportunity to reconnect with Cagayan de Oro’s history, culture, and heritage through an engaging walking experience. It also highlighted the importance of appreciating local landmarks and supporting initiatives that strengthen domestic tourism and local tourism development.

Through its participation, PPA PMO MO/C joined fellow government offices and stakeholders in celebrating the city’s heritage and encouraging a deeper appreciation of the places, stories, and cultural identity that make Cagayan de Oro a destination worth rediscovering.
